Job Details

Variety of tasks to maintain school cleanliness.

The following reflects essential functions for this position but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned.

  • Cleans and maintains orderly, safe, and sanitary conditions in the building.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms.
  • Collect and dispose of garbage.
  • Vacuum hallways, classrooms, and offices.
  • General cleaning of school.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Education and Skills Required:

  • High School Diploma / GED required. Food handling experience preferred.
  • Dependability – must have reliable transportation to the school.
  • Following and maintaining safety standards.
  • Following verbal and written instructions and procedures.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers and school staff.  
  • Personal sanitation and hygiene regulations.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of principles of record keeping and record management.
  • Spanish-speaking preferred, but not required
  • Safety and sanitation practices for food preparation, holding and storage.

General Faculty Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will have a passion for the mission and work of Hope Academy and a desire to play an integral part in growing the impact of Hope Academy.
  • Ability to effectively work in a multi-racial, multi-ethnic, and economically disadvantaged urban community.
  • Engage positively with students and other staff, maintain professional and respectful demeanor.   
  • React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned. 
  • Work as a team to assist staff as needed.  
  • No cell phones may be used during working hours unless you're calling the Food Service Director or Maintenance for immediate help.
