Position: The Community Safety Liaison plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment at Hope Academy. This position supports student safety, strengthens community presence, and ensures smooth operations during key times such as dismissal and outdoor activities.
The Community Safety Liaison serves as a visible presence on campus, builds relationships with students and staff, and responds proactively to safety concerns. This role requires strong situational awareness, sound judgment, and a commitment to de-escalation and community engagement aligned with Hope Academy’s mission.
Job Details
Campus Presence and Student Safety
- Uphold safety guiding principles, including prioritizing student safety and being a positive presence in the community
- Be present outside during dismissal to support parent pick-up, including unlocking the quad and directing traffic flow
- Monitor and support safe transitions during high-traffic times
- Interact with students and staff to build relationships and identify potential safety concerns
- Observe student behavior and identify changes that may indicate safety risks
Park and Outdoor Supervision
- Inspect Peavey Park prior to student use for potential threats, including individuals, hazardous items, or sharps
- Maintain an active and visible presence while students are at the park
- Continuously monitor surroundings and ensure student safety during outdoor time
- Make immediate safety decisions when necessary, including adjusting student access to outdoor areas
Campus Monitoring and Operations
- Conduct daily lock-up procedures at the end of each shift
- Check Detex alarms and ensure all doors are properly secured throughout the day
- Patrol the parking ramp and monitor for safety concerns
- Operate and monitor security cameras and investigate incidents as needed
Emergency Response and Incident Management
- Respond to emergencies as appropriate and within level of training
- Utilize the Raptor App to communicate emergencies and coordinate response
- Document incidents clearly and accurately through written reports
- Prioritize de-escalation when addressing conflicts involving students, staff, or community members
Additional Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and support to staff on safety awareness and supervision expectations
- Be available for additional school events outside of regular hours with advance notice
- Maintain consistent work schedule (typically 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM on school days)
- Support overall campus safety initiatives as directed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in school safety, security, law enforcement, community outreach, youth work, or a related field preferred.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to remain calm, exercise sound judgment, and respond effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, families, and community members.
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods and perform the physical demands of the position.
- Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification, or the ability to obtain certification upon hire.

Compensation
$20.00–$22.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
