Hope Academy is seeking a mission-driven Director of Facilities & Safety to lead the day-to-day maintenance and operational support of our campus. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on making sure our school buildings are clean, functional, and ready to serve our students, staff, and families. You’ll manage maintenance work (like fixing sinks, toilets, furniture and equipment), oversee facility cleaning, coordinate space-use projects (painting, carpet, summer repair work), and lead our facilities and safety staff.

Job Details

  • Oversee daily facility, equipment, and vehicle maintenance and repairs, including minor plumbing, furniture, and finish work.
  • Ensure overnight cleaning vendors maintain consistent, high-quality standards.
  • Plan and coordinate campus space projects—painting, carpet replacement, room setups, and summer turnover.
  • Manage relationships and contracts with vendors for maintenance, repair, and small project work.
  • Lead and support the facilities and safety team; assign tasks, supervise schedules, and build team accountability.
  • Oversee safety staff and help implement safety procedures and emergency preparedness plans.
  • Manage maintenance calendars, work order systems, and preventative maintenance routines.
  • Monitor and maintain the facilities budget; identify cost-saving strategies and purchasing needs.
  • Collaborate with leadership on campus planning and space utilization needs.
  • Collaborate with our Property Management company who is responsible for the building structures and systems required to operate the entire property including the HVAC heating/cooling/plumbing systems, roofing, overall campus security, and groundskeeping.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in facilities, maintenance, or operations—preferably in a school or nonprofit setting.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills; experience supervising maintenance and/or safety personnel.
  • Comfortable performing and/or overseeing light repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Proven ability to manage projects, schedules, and outside vendors.
  • Familiarity with safety standards, compliance, and school security planning.
  • Effective communicator who can coordinate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of facilities software, calendars, and MS Office is preferred.
  • Certifications in OSHA, facilities management, or safety a plus.

Compensation

  • Salary range $75,000 - $90,000 commensurate with experience.
