Hope Academy is seeking a mission-driven K–5 MLL/ESL Teacher to serve as an instructional leader for students whose primary language is not English. This role blends direct language instruction, co-teaching, student advocacy, and WIDA assessment leadership to ensure Multilingual Learners thrive academically, socially, and spiritually. 

At Hope Academy, we foster hope in God within our city community by providing a Christ-centered, rigorous education. The MLL teacher plays a vital role in equipping students with the language skills necessary for lifelong success. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide explicit English language instruction (grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing) through pull-out small groups and push-in classroom support 
  • Co-teach and collaborate weekly with content-area teachers to scaffold instruction for MLL students 
  • Use WIDA standards and data to guide instruction and goal-setting 
  • Administer and coordinate WIDA ACCESS testing and Screeners 
  • Maintain accurate records, service documentation, and compliance requirements 
  • Serve as an advocate and bridge between students, families, and staff 
  • Equip teachers with research-based strategies for multilingual learners 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in ESL/ELL/MLL Education 
  • Experience teaching ESL/MLL (elementary and urban setting preferred) 
  • Familiarity with WIDA standards and assessments 
  • Experience with sheltered instruction and co-teaching models 
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and culturally responsive practices 
  • Commitment to Christ-centered education and serving a diverse urban community 

Role Highlights
