Position Overview: The Teacher in Residency (TIR) is an aspiring educator participating in a structured, hands-on training program designed to develop effective teaching practices under the guidance of an experienced mentor teacher. The residency blends classroom immersion with professional learning, preparing candidates to transition into full-time lead teaching roles.
Job Details
Instructional Support & Classroom Practice
- Co-plan and co-teach lessons in collaboration with a mentor teacher
- Gradually assume responsibility for lesson delivery, classroom management, and assessment
- Plan, deliver and facilitate small group learning
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs
- Use data to inform instruction and support student achievement
Professional Learning & Development
- Participate in ongoing professional development sessions, workshops, and seminars
- Engage in reflective practices, including observations and feedback cycles
- Maintain a growth mindset and actively incorporate feedback into teaching practice
Student Engagement & Support
- Build positive relationships with students and foster an inclusive classroom environment
- Support students’ academic, social, and emotional development
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff
Collaboration & School Involvement
- Attend staff meetings, team planning sessions, and school events
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff
- Uphold school policies, procedures, and professional standards

Required Qualifications
- Enrollment in or completion of a teacher preparation or certification program
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children or in educational settings

Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive compensation ranging from $22-$24 hourly
