Overview
The Hope Academy Summer Teacher Residency was created to meet the challenges facing urban schools by training, hiring, and retaining teaching staff that continually grow to reflect the diversity of our Minneapolis student body. Over the course of its existence, we have hired multiple candidates to move into full time teaching roles following Residency, and they have become some of the very best teachers our students have. If you have a talent for working with young people, a heart for the city of Minneapolis, and a calling to teach with excellence, the Hope Academy Teacher Residency program is for you.
Residency is a 5-Week intensive internship during Hope Academy’s summer session. Hope has mandatory summer school for grades K-8 with the express intention of mitigating summer learning loss among our students. Summer Residents are a vital piece of our summer programming and can expect to become highly experienced in the culture, values, and practices of Hope Academy as the internship progresses. Details of the residency are below:
This stipend position pays $2,500 for the 5 weeks of the program. Residents are paid once after the first two weeks and once at the end of the program. Residency participants will receive a 1099 at the end of the year for tax purposes.
